Schools face growing challenges as harmful online culture and content shape the behaviour, attitudes and experiences of children and young people. These issues are increasingly present in school communities, affecting pupils’ safety, wellbeing, relationships and ability to learn.
The Equilibrium Project, part of Engagedu’s safeguarding services, helps schools respond proactively and effectively. We provide the insight, practical tools and expert support schools need to take positive steps towards safer, more respectful environments.
Our approach is informed by national research and key findings from Ofsted and the Children’s Commissioner, so the support you receive is current, relevant and grounded in evidence.

The Equilibrium Project has created safe spaces for over 3,000 children and young people to share their voice, reflect on their experiences and understand how the digital landscape is shaping their identity.

At the heart of the programme is our online survey, which gathers the views and experiences of pupils, parents and staff. It gives schools a clear picture of attitudes, behaviours and emerging concerns linked to misogyny, harmful sexual behaviour, relationships and online culture.
Schools begin by gathering pupil, parent and staff voice to understand current attitudes, experiences and concerns. This may highlight themes such as sexist language, online harassment, unhealthy peer dynamics or uncertainty about respectful relationships.
We work closely with leaders to review the findings, identify priorities and agree clear next steps. Together, we shape a practical action plan that reflects your school’s context, community and safeguarding priorities.

Where further issues arise, we provide expert guidance, staff training and additional resources so schools can respond consistently, confidently and with care.
Lessons are designed around the real issues young people face today, encouraging discussion, critical thinking, empathy and positive behaviour change. By combining pupil voice, tailored planning, engaging education and ongoing support, Equilibrium offers a practical, structured route to lasting culture change.

Partnership
The Equilibrium Project is proud to work with ConnectEd Partnership, a well-established collaboration of over 100 schools committed to improving opportunities and outcomes for children and young people across Wolverhampton.
For the last three years, ConnectEd and Equilibrium have offered the project free of charge to every school in the partnership, giving them practical guidance, training and evidence-informed support to create safer, more respectful learning environments.
Beyond schools
Equilibrium also supports wider youth organisations to strengthen safeguarding practice and respond confidently to emerging issues affecting young people. Our training and consultancy can support organisations and charities with staff development, practical safeguarding guidance and evidence-informed approaches to culture change.
